What We Did
The purpose of this project was to gaina deeper undertsanding about the organ systems in the human body. During this project, each group got assigned 2 organ systems in the body to reasearch, and ultimately create a model of how the organ systems work and interact with eschother. The model had to complete 3 tasks, 1 that each body system does on its own, and 1 that the two body systems do together. We also created a brief presentation to further explain the functions and interactions of our body systems. My group, Casey, Hunter, Aditya and I, got the Digestive and Excretory systems. To start off, we reasearched how the sytems functioned and what majot organs are involved with each system. Then we began designing and buiding our 3D model. Our group cme up with a design similar to a rube goldberg machine, each step in the model triggered the following step.
Our Project
Below is the presentation our group made. It provides more details and information about the specifics of my groups model.
Content
Muscular- used for movement and strength
Skelatal- provides structure and protection
Endocrine- sends hormones to different cells telling them to make a certain change
Nervous- processes and sends electrical signals to allow for functions
Respiratory- does gas exchange
Lymphatic (Immune)- helps fight diseases
Circulatory- movement(circulation) of nutrients, waste, and gas
Digestive- break down and absorb food
Excretory- eliminate waste in the body
Reproductive- to reproduce and continue a species

Reflection
Overall I found this project to be both helpful and fun. I learned a great deal about how each and every body system works and interacts with one another. I also got to re-visit some of the skills I gained in 9th grade physics about construction as I helped build the model. My group for this project was incredibly helpful during this process, and I felt that we all got along well and worked cohesively. However, this project had its ups and downs. One thing we did well as a group was creativity. Throughout the project, there was never a shortage of ideas. For example, when it came time to design our 3D model, we took a very creative route and built a very complex and unique model. We even inluded multiple stages with flowing water. Another thing we did very well was cooperation. If one of us needed help or asked another group member to do something, there was nevr any hesitation to help out. We also collaborated well specifically on the presentation and research. We split up the work so we could get done more quickly and efficiently. While Aditya and Hunter researched the digestive system function, Casey and I researched the excretory system function. We did the same type of set up while working on the presentation as well. This helped save us a lot of time. Something we could have done better was communication during the build days. Sometimes we wouldn't be very clear about instructions or explanations regarding the contrution plan of our model, and due to the fact that our design was on the complicated side, these miscommunications made building confusing at times. Another thing that I could have improved was speaking up in the group more. This group was very open and easy to talk to, but also full of natural leaders. While I tried to improved on my ability to let others lead, I personally didnt contribute as many ideas to the group as I would have liked. However, despite the challenges of this project, it was still very successful in aiding me to acheive a better understanding of the organ systems in the human body and how they interact with eachother.
